Our Vermont Brewery and Spirits Tour is an 8-hour day tour for people who love world-class beer, spirits, and hard cider. This guided tour visits 4 Vermont breweries, 1 distillery and 1 hard cidery, plus lots of great Vermont scenery and other local attractions. When booking a hotel for this tour, please choose a location in the Killington, VT area. We will pick you up right at your door!
The first stop of our tour will be at the Drop-In Brewing Company in Middlebury. This is a kegging-only brewery, with samples provided in their tasting room. (Growlers are available for purchase if you would like to bring some home.) One interesting fact about this brewery is that it is the nation's only full-scale brewing facility dedicated to brewing education.
Next, we will drive to Ferrisburgh, VT to sample various Vermont food products at Dakin Farm. From meats and cheese to jelly and maple syrup, the snacks at Dakin Farm are the perfect complement to a day full of beer sampling. With plenty of samples to choose from, Dakin Farm is a great place to clean your palette. Our favorite has to be their on-site Sugarhouse, which has been boiling sap every season for over 58 years!
After Dakin Farm, we will visit Fiddlehead Brewing Company in the nearby town of Shelburne. Fiddlehead is a 15-barrel brewery that produces full-flavored beers with connoisseurs in mind. Their brewery offers tasting, merchandise, and a view into the brewing process. Fiddlehead focuses on depth of flavor, freshness of ingredients, and incorporating local products whenever possible.
Next, we will make a short drive into South Burlington to visit Magic Hat Brewing Company. Magic Hat has been on the Vermont brewery scene since 1994, and today produces 175,000 barrels per year. Their visitor center (known as the "Artifactory") is extremely colorful, featuring a growler bar with many different beers on tap. You can also take a self-guided tour of the facility to see their production process!
Having finished our visit to the Burlington area, we will return to Middlebury VT, for more beer sampling at the Otter Creek Brewing Company. Lunch is available for purchase on the premises. This facility is home to two different brands: Otter Creek and The Shed Brewery. The visitor center has a fun atmosphere about it, making it a great place to eat and enjoy some samples. We love the generous portions provided in their beer samplers!
Our next stop will be at the Appalachian Gap Distillery, which is home to eight unique spirits: Fractal, Kaffekask, Kaffevan, Snowfall, Mosquito Fleet, Ridgeline, Papilio, and Mythic. We're partial to Kaffevan a Coffee liqueur made by blending Kaffekask coffee whiskey with brewed coffee (Vermont Coffee Company) and Belgian candi sugar.
Our final destination is just a short drive up the road to Woodchuck Hard Cider*. In their brand new facility, we will take a self-guided tour to see how hard cider is made. Woodchuck Cider has many delicious varieties to choose from. Our favorite is Private Reserve Barrel Select, which is aged for six months in genuine white oak Kentucky Bourbon barrels. This day tour concludes by returning all customers to their original pick-up locations.
* Woodchuck is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Tours booked for those days will visit Switchback Brewing Company instead.
Note: Alcohol may only be consumed on the premises of each brewery/distillery. Drinking in our tour van is strictly prohibited.
